WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a former Waterloo teacher accused of having sex with a student is expected to change his plea to guilty.
Black Hawk County prosecutor Linda Fangman SAYS a plea change hearing is scheduled June 4 for 26-year-old Brett Messenger, of Waterloo. He'd pleaded not guilty in January, after his arrest on a charge of sexual exploitation by a school employee.
Messenger was a teacher at West High School and co-director of the school's band. Police say he had sex with a female student in the spring and summer of 2011. The student has since graduated, and police received information that she had told another instructor about the relationship.

GRUNDY CENTER, Iowa (AP) - An Iowa doctor is accused of running an unauthorized methadone clinic.
Dr. Frank Lamp, of Grundy Center, faces nine charges. His activities reportedly came to light after a registered methadone clinic, Cedar Valley Recovery Services, noticed some patients were dropping out of its program and going to Lamp. The clinic notified the state.
Methadone is a narcotic commonly prescribed as a painkiller but can also be used to wean addicts off heroin or other drugs.
Assistant Grundy County Attorney Erika Allen says the charges against Lamp were related to prescriptions he wrote for three patients.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A Waterloo pilot is expected to plead guilty to at least one charge stemming from an indictment accusing him of falsifying his flight experience to obtain a license.
Fahad Nabeel Hussein Al-Daous is due Friday in federal court in Des Moines for a change of plea hearing.
His attorney, J. Keith Rigg, said Thursday his client has reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors rather than go to trial. He said he could not comment further until the agreement is filed Friday.
Hussein Al-Daous was indicted in February on two felony counts of making false statements to the Federal Aviation Administration. An indictment accuses him of falsely inflating the number of "pilot in command" hours he had completed when he filled out two applications for an instrument license last year.
